NIS 2012 Upgrade problem from trial version to licensed product. Windows Device Manager empty
Hello
I had a trail version of NIS 2012 running on my windows 7 home premium laptop. I have now loaded a licensed version of NIS2012 onto the same laptop.
The install of the licensed product uninstalled the trail version and then successfully loaded the license version which appears to be working okay. However I have noticed that windows device manager is now completely blank (its not showing any devices at all)
Can anybody help, thanks in advance.
NACACS 2012: Information Warfare, Emerging Markets, and…Did I Mention Humidity?
I just returned from speaking in Orlando, Florida – humidity, Mickey Mouse, and… did I mention humidity? I was there this week for the ISACA North America CACS Conference, presenting on information warfare, or more simply, nation-state attacks.
I’ve spoken at around two dozen ISACA events over the last few years, and this year’s was one of the best. They had great presentations with a wide variety of topics, from COBIT to, well, information warfare. But what I liked most was the international and eclectic nature of the audience. There were folks from around the globe representing different roles such as auditors, security analysts, researchers, and more.
I was also able to share some of my perspectives around emerging markets with the audience. Fortunately, this conference attracts so many international participants that I was able to have bi-directional discussions with the crowd and go into quite a bit of detail about countries like Mexico, Brazil, and Thailand. There was a lot of interest in how governments in emerging markets view information warfare – what they are investing in, and how they are building an offensive and defensive strategy.
We covered a wide variety of geographies, actors and attack vectors, and I demoed one or two attacks to illustrate how some of these nation-states are leveraging tools and techniques that are equally popular for cyber criminals with financial instead of political motivations. All in all, the conference was a great experience, and I’ll be sure to keep them on my radar for presenting again.
Norton Internet Security 2012
My annual subscription is about to run out (in 35 days) and I full intend to renew.
I use the software on 3 home computers, one of which is a hardly used netbook.
My question is this:
Do the 3 computers which I can install the software on all have to be in my home, or can I install onto a computer which I use in a small office?
I realise that if it is possible, I will have to uninstall from the netbook so that the total number is still 3 computers.
Amazon Norton Internet Security 2012 3User $25.89 Only
Norton Internet Security 2012 3User is now only $ 25.89 (the standard price is always $ 79.99)
Did Compact Reg with Norton Utils 15. Now NIS 2012 ver 19.7 Intrusion prevention keeps turning off.
Made sure that Norton Utilities 15 had no updates. NIS 2012 (ver 19.7) had no updates.
Ran an Analyse and Compact of the Registry from NU 15. It "said" it was creating a Restore Point. Re-booted. RED X over System Tray Norton Internet Security icon. Open NIS. Says that "Network and Web protections are at risk." Ran Fix. Not fixed. Went to settings. Turned on Intrusion Prevention. Apply. Turns off. Tried to find a restore point. Nothing for today. Went to NU 15. Went to Recover and Restore. Clicked on two items from today (only two). Clicked on Restore. NOTHING happened! Tried Re-boot. Still problem with Intrusion Prevention.
Do I have to run an Uninstall/Reinstall AGAIN?? Just did it a few weeks ago, because my NIS wasn’t able to update from ver 19.6 to 19.7.
Tried MULTIPLE manual Liveupdates.

Leveraging Time Travel & Teleportation to Secure Invisible Networks
Greg Brown, McAfee VP Network Security
Virtualization has been the single largest driver in data center change over the past three years. Network fabric technology and software-defined networking are rapidly replacing the decade-old tiered network architectures. As advanced targeted attacks are becoming more prolific and cheaper to engineer, network security technologies must evolve to deal with invisible wires, non-deterministic network paths, and increasingly complex attack techniques. How can you keep up with the ever-expanding threat?

NIS Product update 2012
Hi Guys.
I purchased NIS 2011 3user edition on 10 / 4 / 2012 and on installing it, NIS completed and update to 2012.
I had a new product update pop up on my screen (6/5/12), and clicked to allow it to do its thing. My laptop required restarting once down load was complete, which I did after completing the work I was doing. But on restart this time It says my product has expired… Any advise please as my details show my expire date is in 2013 ?
I have tried to reload the product key code / removed NIS and reinstalled.
Oh also I’m my account details it does say there is still 2installs remaining and is showing the very latest version is installed on my system if this helps.
Thanks Dazzling.
Problem installing Internet Security 2012
First, I uninstalled 2011. Then I try installing 2012 and it tells me it’s incompatible with my Vista.
I try on another Vista (without uninstalling 2011), and it goes through…
I kinda remember 2 options before uninstalling: to keep settings, or clear data (something like that)
I rushed to uninstall and checked ‘clear’ by accident :smileyfrustrated:
Is this the problem, and can it be fixed?
