Action Center reports NIS2012 turned off.
Folks, I’ve been posting this problem for over 3 months now and not one answer…
Problem: Win7 x64 reports NIS2012 turned off; when clicking on "Turn on Now" it opens up the NIS2012 window but does not clear the red flag.
I’ve narrowed the problem down (I think) -
I uninstall NIS2012 via Control Panel.
I reboot.
I use Norton Removal Tool.
I reboot.
I use CC Cleaner – just to be safe and remove any left over registry keys for Norton.
I reboot.
I use Norton Removal Tool – one more time to be safe.
I reboot.
I then reinstall NIS2012.
I reboot. Version installed is 19.1.028 – Action Center reports ALL WELL (Green)
I live update – about 88mb.
I reboot. Version is still 19.1.028 but now Action Center reports turned off (Red)
I live update – about 35mb
I reboot.
Version is now 19.5.0.145 – Action Center reports ALL WELL (Green)
I live update – about 545k (this is the one that messes it back up)
I reboot.
No more live updates required – version is still 19.5.0.145 but Action Center reports turned off (Red)
I’ve registered and deregistered wmiuitls (as per other suggestions)
Is it possible to pull a log and find out why this is flaggin as turned off?
NIS/NAV & DNSChanger Malware
Hi! All,
I would like to know how well NIS/NAV handle DNSChanger malware? (Non-specific to OS & Norton product version but it would be nice to know how each version of the 2011-2012 Norton products handle this on WinXP, Vista, Win7 providing each OS is completely updated with all Service Packs, etc.)
Move subscription to a new computer
I am replacing my laptop with a new one. How do I get my current subscription moved to the new laptop after I delete NIS from the old laptop?
NIS Renewal Problem
After checking a 1 yr subscription for NIS in order to renew my licenses, I am taken to a GERMAN web page where the cost summary is in Euros and everything is in German!

Reputation Scan, “Norton insight cannot connect to the Symantec server.”
There are several threads on this bug, most are marked "Solved" THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. Using NIS 2012 [19.5.1.2], all updates. Using Win 7 64bit.
When I ran a reputation scan I get an error few seconds in: "Connection Warning, Trust Level, Prevalence, Resource Usage and stability reported for files may not be accurate because norton insight cannot connect to the Symantec server.
On 10 Sept 2011 Michaell, Symantec Employee, wrote: "There are a lot of people at Symantec aware of the problem and we are all interested in getting this resolved asap." Based on this statement, one assume that Symantecs programmers could have fixed the issue in almost 5 months. Obviously, Symantec needs more or better programmers.
Incidentally, in my case, all my internet connections are good, even when called by NIS. It works on another computer on the same router and the same OS, Win 7 64bit.
NIS 2012 downloads are failing
Good Morning,
Running Live Update Checks for updates ok, then fails on downloads and subsequently fails on install. This started this morning. Last live update ran ok about 7 hours ago.
Any info on this?
Any 3 year NIS 2012 subscriptions for 5 PC’s available for Australians?
Trying to sync my NIS 2012 trial subscription renewal date for 1pc with my existing 3pc renewal date & pop-ups/reminders led me to a 3 year for 5 PC’s deal, but the secure checkout is only for US. Found the same with NOBU last year. Disappointed that there seem to be no such deals for us down under. Does anyone know of one for Australia? I can only find 1 year subs for 5pcs. We always seem to be left out

I’ve had Norton for a while, NIS, it works fine.
I have 3 laptops, so all three downloads are used. It’s renewable in May.
Two months ago one laptop died and I bought an other one, which came with a 2 months trial version of NIS, which runs out tomorrow.
I want to buy it for this new laptop, but I’m a little confused as what is the best way to go. I can’t wait till May, can I somehow transfer the last 3 months from the old laptop to this new one? Is it best to buy a new license key now? Can I buy a license key for one laptop?
I have tried to find answers on the Norton website and in these forums to no avail, if anyone can advise me I would really appreciate it.

Renew NIS 2011 with NIS 2012 using a disc versio
Hi am asking for some advice please.
I have NIS 2011 – will expire in about a week. I purchased this through the Norton website but for 2012 the NIS 2012 on a disc was a lot cheaper than renewing.
Please can you tell me if & how I should uninstall NIS 2011 before installing the disc for NIS 2012 ?
Do I just use the uninstall download tool and follow the instructions, then load in the NIS 2012 disc ?
